Airport Activity

Enplanements at All Airports (Primary, Non-primary Commercial Service and General Aviation) by State

What does this mean?

Enplanements are counts of passengers boarding an aircraft operated by an air carrier.

Why does it matter?

Airports are important in the supply chain to deliver high-value, time-sensitive materials, such as human tissue samples, vaccines, critical manufacturing components, etc., and transport people to connect to markets across the world. The number of flights and the amount of cargo is indicative of the support provided by the airport to enhance the regional economy. North Carolina’s network of airports complement each other to sustain various flight use cases, including regularly scheduled commercial service, air cargo and shipping services, business aviation, agricultural support flights, military and pilot training, etc.
